Bumps to bright babies

Did you know you can connect with your baby whilst you are pregnant?

Join us for a free two hour session and find out more about the special relationship you have with your baby before birth.

We will also talk about the importance of the ‘golden hour’ after birth, and how frequent skin to skin and responsive parenting helps your baby’s brain to grow.

This informal session will be run by members of the health visiting, midwifery teams, with lots of opportunities to ask questions.

Postnatal group

Following your 6-8 week visit from your health visitor you will be invited to book on to a postnatal group.  The postnatal group is offered to first-time parents and those of you with a big gap between children. The one and a half hour sessions enable new parents to meet other parents whilst exploring and learning about relevant topics for the first year of life. The range of topics includes:

  • You and your new baby-What’s it like being a new parent
  • Child development-How to switch on your babies brain
  • Solid foods-Why you should wait until 6 months
  • Minor ailments-When to call the doctor
  • Treasure baskets and sleep

There is a chance to have a chat and to ask any questions. There are also fun activities such as ‘footprints’ and a baby group photo.

To book a place please contact your local Children’s centre hub or ask your health visitor to book you on the next available course.
