The special needs nursery at Snapdragons is staffed by qualified and support staff to provide a supportive nursery environment for children with additional needs including conditions such as; cerebral palsy, autism, global development delay associated with chromosomal conditions, degenerative disorders. Placement in the nursery will be for a time limited period to enable inclusion and smooth transition into a mainstream provision. In addition to this provision the specialist nursery also contributes to assessment of children in the Indigo Pathway for diagnosis of Autism and supports complex needs groups in the Violet pathway. The introduction of an outreach service will support mainstream nurseries to manage additional needs of children and include them in their settings.
