Medway Community Healthcare (MCH) won several categories at the X-PERT Health conference.

The annual conference held at The Marriott Renaissance in Manchester on Thursday 19 September championed the best performing organisations that deliver the X-PERT education across the UK and Ireland.

MCH was winners in the award categories: ‘The Greatest Improvement in Glycated Haemoglobin’, ‘The Largest Impact on Body Weight and Waist Circumference.’ The ‘Best Educator Award 2019’ was awarded to MCH Diabetes Education Facilitator, Cay Carlow. In addition, MCH also placed second in the ‘Best Participant Experience’ category.

The theme of the conference was ‘educate not medicate’. X-PERT Health passionately believe that through education people can understand their condition better, giving them greater confidence to make more informed choices, improving their health and moving towards remission. By helping to reduce the need for medication, education programmes like X-PERT can help save the NHS millions of pounds each year.

Speakers shared many inspiring stories of patients who after experiencing an educational programme had started on the journey of reducing medication and living a healthier lifestyle.

Dr Trudi Deakin, CEO of X-PERT Health commented: “Our annual conference is such a fantastic way to help communicate our key message of ‘educate not medicate’ to stakeholders. It’s wonderful to hear so many success stories of people who through the education have transformed their lives. Education really does work in reducing medication and moving people towards Type 2 remission. The conference also celebrates our wonderful X-PERT educators who do such an excellent job delivering our programmes nationwide. Their passion and enthusiasm for helping people make changes in their lifestyle to improve their health is unrivalled. I congratulate all the winners and runners-up and our amazing X-PERT team.”
