A-one+, on behalf of Highways England will be carrying out resurfacing to the London bound M2 between junction 7 and junction 5. The works will include the reinstatement of road markings and studs.

In order to carry out these works as efficiently and safely as possible, they will be closing the London bound carriageway overnight from junctions 7 to 5. During these works, the London bound entry and exit slip roads to and from junction 7 and junction 6 of the M2 will be closed.

Dates and timings

M2 Junction 7 – 5 London bound with junction 7 & 6 entry and exit slip road closure

22 June 2020 – 3 August 2020

4 August 2020 – 7 August 2020*

Monday to Friday only

8pm – 6am (Overnight)

*Contingency dates: these will only be used if works are not completed by the anticipated end date of the morning of 4 August 2020.

Diversions: Clearly signed diversions will be in place during closures utilising local routes, suitable for all types of vehicles when full closures of the carriageway are in place

M2 London bound traffic from junction 7:

Traffic heading London bound from the A2, A299 or other routes involving Brenley Corner roundabout will be diverted from the M2 Junction 7 roundabout at Brenley Corner to continue onto the Coast bound A2 to Whitfield Roundabout. Traffic will continue on the A2 towards Duke of York’s roundabout onto Jubilee Way, continuing onto the London bound A20 and merging onto the M20 at junction 13. Traffic will remain on the London bound M20 until junction 7, where traffic should exit onto the North bound A249 in order to join the M2 at junction 5.

M2 London bound traffic from junction 6:

Traffic will not be able to join the M2 from junction 6 during these closures, instead, traffic heading from either North or South of the M2 will be directed to the Coast Bound M2 from junction 6 in order to join the above diversion from Brenley Corner roundabout at junction 7 of the M2.

London bound traffic from Canterbury:

Traffic coming from the A28 or A2050 near Canterbury looking to access the London bound A2 to the M20 will be diverted onto the Coast bound A2050 to join the main diversion, detailed above, from the A2 at Patrixbourne towards Dover.
