The current COVID impact financially is contributing to some people not being able to afford the cost of travelling to a health appointment, but it's important we all have equal access to healthcare.

If you're referred to hospital or other NHS premises for specialist NHS treatment or diagnostic tests by a doctor or another primary care health professional, you may be able to claim a refund of reasonable travel costs under the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS).

The NHS scheme provides lots of information on financial help that may be available to adults and children, where the elibility criteria is met. The support provided can help to relieve the financial pressures forparents and carers who need to transport their children to their health appointments, while equally helping support adults with travel costs who most need it.
