Neurological Assessment Service (NAS)
Our Neurological Assessment Service (NAS) is primarily a screening assessment service where we carry out assessment and investigation of clients with neurological presentation affecting the brain, nerves and muscles and help them to manage their condition.
We offer expert assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and management of conditions using medication and non-medication route. For conditions that can’t be managed within our service, we facilitate management using the right medical pathway for neurological symptoms
Following a comprehensive assessment, we can initiate referral for magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs), Nerve conduction studies, Electromyography (EMG) Ultrasound investigation and blood profile if required as deemed appropriate for the presentation We will discuss and advise on any possible surgical and non-surgical treatments that may be on offer and the hospitals/departments that offer these treatments. We may also arrange referral to the hospital of the patient’s choice if necessary.
Some common conditions seen by our clinicians are Headache and migraine, nerve related problems like neuropathy, dizziness, Multifactorial balance disorders & falls, symptoms such as pins and needles or numbness single limb, involuntary movements such as tremors.
We do work closely with our colleagues from Medway Maritime hospital and also use various specialist pathway at tertiary centres such as Kings college hospital London
To be referred to our service, GPs can send a referral letter to us using our referral form using electronic referral system. Following the referral one of our clinicians will screen the referral and decide whether patient need initial phone consultation or whether they need to be seen face to face.
