Your assessment will involve our physiotherapists taking a detailed medical history, including information about your level of activity, your lifestyle, previous injuries or illnesses, your work environment and your current medication. Please come prepared with this information.

The physiotherapist will then carry out a physical examination. Depending on the nature of your problem, you may be required to undress for the examination and may wish to bring alternative clothing with you, such as shorts or a vest top. In discussion with you, treatment may take place at the first appointment and further appointments will be agreed as necessary.

The initial assessment will last approximately 40 minutes. Subsequent follow up sessions, if necessary,are 30 minutes.

Once the examination is complete, the physiotherapist will discuss a treatment plan with you, which may include;

  • advice/self help,
  • exercise,
  • rehabilitation classes >
  • mobilisation of joints or soft tissue
  • manipulation
  • electrotherapy,
  • acupuncture,
  • splinting,
  • home exercises will form a crucial part of your treatment programme, which will help you maintain progress and will promote your body's ability to self-heal.

We also run a number of rehabilitation classes to aid recovery and self-management of your condition. These classes help to deal with conditions of the upper and lower limbs as well as back complaints and long-term conditions.
