Medway on Call Care (MedOCC)

MedOCC at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital is temporarily closed due to the current Covid-19 pandemic

If we feel we are able to manage your case via telephone or video call, we will strive to do so.

MedOCC deals with urgent care problems when GP surgeries are closed. We also assess and manage patients with symptoms of cellulitis or deep vein thrombosis and act as a communication hub for messages to district nurses, rapid response teams and other community/specialist teams.

If you are unwell, you should contact your GP surgery in the first instance who will offer you an appointment or some advice over the telephone.

If you are unwell when your surgery is closed, for example, from 6.30pm to 8am Monday to Friday, or at weekends or bank holidays, please dial 111 (please note that your calls may be recorded or monitored and used for training purposes).

If attending one of the MedOCC clinics, you should ensure you have a pre-arranged appointment that has been agreed over the telephone, or that your surgery has made one for you. You may also be referred to a MedOCC clinic by the A&E department at Medway Maritime Hospital.

Many everyday problems, such as colds, flu and minor cuts can be treated at home. We may suggest suitable products available from your local pharmacy, or that you may already have at home. We may also suggest that although you need to see your GP if your condition does not require treatment that day. If you do need to be seen, you will be given an appointment to see a doctor or nurse at a clinic. Details of your consultation will be forwarded to your GP surgery the next day.
