What we do

Our team of specialist physiotherapists provide expert treatment and guidance in pain relief, movement, exercises, manual techniques and manipulation to treat, rehabilitate and re-educate people with a wide range of health problems. We work with people who have lost some movement and ability through either an accident, ageing, illness or disability; helping them to live as actively and independently as possible.

Musculoskeletal pain

The physiotherapy team also provides a comprehensive assessment and treatment service for all patients with musculoskeletal (joint, muscle, ligament, tendon) pain. We assess, diagnose and treat patients in all age groups with many different illnesses, injuries and conditions including;

  • back and neck pain;
  • cervicogenic headache;
  • complex pain conditions;
  • muscle, joint, ligament and tendon injuries;
  • osteoarthritis;
  • post-operative conditions;
  • repetitive strain injury (RSI);
  • rheumatologicalconditions (i.e. Fibromyalgia, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Hypermobility Syndrome, Psoriatic Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis);
  • specialist hand conditions;
  • some pregnancy and childbirth related conditions;
  • whiplash;
  • women's health (incontinence).
Treatments covered:
  • Acupuncture and dry needling
  • Exercise classes including shoulder rehab, joint replacement and Pilates
  • Exercise therapy- individualised flexibility and strengthening programmes
  • Electrotherapy- including therapeutic ultrasound, pulsed short wave diathermy and TENs

  • MSK physiotherapy has the benefit of being able to offer prescriptions for painkillers and or anti-inflammatory medication for MSK and nerve pain. This is carried out by experienced clinicians who has undergone further training at Masters Degree level in non-medical prescribing.
  • Medicines are used to supplement Musculoskeletal rehabilitation in a similar way to the use of injection therapy which has been used within Physiotherapy for many years now.
  • The service is audited and supervised by the Non Medical Prescribing Lead for the organisation to ensure safety and cost effectiveness.
