The arrhythmia service assists with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with abnormal heart rhythms, such as, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia and heart blocks.

People diagnosed with atrial fibrillation are at a higher risk of stroke, therefore, the arrhythmia service will have a large focus on managing atrial fibrillation and stroke prevention. The arrhythmia nurses can risk assess these patients and request anticoagulation (blood thinning) therapy if appropriate.

Clinics are held by the arrhythmia team at various locations throughout the Medway area and home visits are also available to patients who are unable to attend clinic venues.

GPs, consultants and other health professionals can refer people to the service by post or email.  Once referred to the service, individuals will be contacted and invited to an initial assessment, and a treatment and management plan will be devised.  If necessary follow-up appointments will be arranged.

If you would like to speak to the team, or you have any further queries, please contact us by email or by calling us on 01634 382840 between the hours of 08.30-16.30 (Monday to Friday).
