Health visiting
Health visiting - speech bubble 2

What we do

Health visitors are qualified nurses who have undergone additional training and qualification. There are also community health nurses and nursery nurses within the teams and all hold a recognised qualification.

Health visitors work in the community with families with young children to offer support and advice from pre-birth until they enter school full-time. This includes advice on:

  • Antenatal contact
  • New birth visits
  • Breast feeding support/advice
  • Immunisation advice
  • Behavioural management
  • Maternal mental health visits (MMH1)
  • Health education groups
  • Diet and lifestyle
  • Child development and assessment at 10-12 mouths and 2 to 2.5 year old
  • Child health clinics
  • Parenting
  • Signposting to other health and social care agencies

There is no need to book, just bring your baby's red book along with you to one of our child health clinics.
