Health visiting

The Medway health visiting team aims to give babies the best start in life.

Health visitors, community health nurses and nursery nurses visit new parents at home to offer initial advice, with on-going support available up to school age through further home visits or at a local clinic. The team also offer support around maternal mental health.

Parents of babies and pre-school children can attend child health clinics across Medway to get advice ranging from health and nutrition and development to helping their child to develop speech and language skills.

A new vaccine to prevent meningitis is being offered to babies as part of the routine NHS childhood vaccination programme. The Men B vaccine recommended for babies aged 2 months, followed by a second dose at 4 months, and a booster at 12 months. Find out more on the NHS choices website. >
