For Medway:

For Swale:

The paediatric podiatry department provides assessment and treatment from birth to 19 years of age. Paediatric podiatrists have additional knowledge of children's lower limb development and of childhood disabilities. We work independently as well as within an integrated multi-disciplinary team of physiotherapists (neuro and MSK), OT, continence nurse and speech therapist to develop a unique treatment plan to meet your child's individual needs and abilities.

The paediatric podiatry department will assess your child's lower limb function and undertake gait analysis assessment.

The paediatric podiatry service accepts referrals for any child that has a condition affecting their lower limb including:

  • neuromuscular disorders e.g. muscular dystrophies
  • neurological conditions e.g. cerebral palsy, head injuries
  • congenital disorders e.g. spina bifida, limb deficiencies
  • delayed movement development
  • conditions where mobility is affected e.g. oncology
  • congenital syndromes
  • and children with hemiplegia who have leg length differences.

Please note we are only able to accept referrals for the following where there is dysfunction or pain:

  • flat feet that present (under the age of 6, only 1% of flat feet require treatment)
  • curly or under riding/ over riding toes (rare)
  • HAV

Referrals for wound care or ingrown toenails should be submitted to our adult podiatry team within KCHT
