The physiotherapy service within the specialist palliative care service based at the Wisdom Hospice provides specialist assessment and intervention for patients with a palliative diagnosis and specialist rehabilitation needs. This includes patients with cancer and non-cancer conditions such as advanced neurological or cardiovascular disease or organ failure.
The team are able to offer expertise in managing breathlessness, fatigue, de conditioning, muscle weakness and complex mobility and moving and handling issues as well as neurological rehabilitation for those patients with advanced conditions. The creation of a new gym in July 2014 has enabled new services to be offered.
