Medway Community Healthcare (MCH) provides a wide range of high quality community health services for Medway residents; from health visitors and district nurses to speech and language therapists and out of hours urgent care.
Children with complex additional needs may benefit from the involvement of a community paediatrician. Our paediatricians all work alongside our nurses and therapists to ensure your child’s developmental needs have been assessed.
The doctors work primarily in our Indigo (neurodevelopmental) and Violet (neurodisability) pathways. The indigo pathway covers conditions such as Autism, sensory processing disorder and ADHD. New referrals for assessment for ADHD are all seen within our new nurse-led pathway and nurses will also support medication reviews so your child may be seen either by a Paediatrician or a nurse. Children referred for assessment under the autism and sensory element of the pathway will be seen by a paediatrician, Speech and Language Therapist and/or an Occupational Therapist to support diagnosis. Children over the age of 11 would be seen by NELFT for assessment of all neurodevelopmental conditions.
Within the Violet pathway, Paediatricians would assess children under the age of 5 presenting with developmental delay and will assess and review all children with complex disabilities alongside nursing and therapy colleagues.
Our Paediatricians follow NICE guidance for diagnosis and management of any developmental or neurological condition.
