Medway Community Healthcare is responsible for ensuring that the risk of healthcare acquired infections is reduced and is committed to a zero tolerance of preventable infections
The current MRSA screening criteria is as follows:
- Patients currently MRSA +ve from Medway Maritime Hospital
- Patients currently MRSA +ve from any other acute hospital
- Patients admitted directly from Nursing or residential homes.
- Patients admitted from the community via MedOCC or case managers.
- Patients admitted from other acute or community hospitals.
Patients found to be carriers of MRSA are given an MRSA hygiene protocol to follow and are managed according to the organisation’s MRSA policy.
