Equality and diversity

We have an agreed equality and diversity policy which demonstrates our commitments and an agreed equality and diversity action plan which is updated regularly.

Workforce race equality (WRES)

The Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) is a set of nine indicators of race equality. They were introduced in April 2015 for all NHS providers. The long term aim of the standard is to highlight potential differences in workforce representation and experience between white and Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) staff, and to close those gaps. This supports our ongoing work across MCH to ensure that we are fair and representative of the communities we support. It’s the first phase of a wider programme of work to be introduced across all recognised equality strands.

Our WRES figures support us in ensuring that we are able to recruit from the widest possible pool of people and that the experience of all staff working for us is great. This will have a positive impact on staff welfare, on our reputation as a genuinely values-led organisation and importantly, on our patients – it’s been demonstrated that a decrease in discrimination against BME staff is linked with higher levels of patient satisfaction. We want to be an example of best practice in the NHS and beyond.

The documents below detail our action plans, indicators and data for 2015, 2016 and 2017.
