Wisdom Hospice volunteer awarded the Order of Mercy

Kate Browning, volunteer at the Wisdom Hospice which is run by Medway Community Healthcare (MCH), has been awarded the Order of Mercy. Kate Browning

The awards ceremony took place at The Mansion House, in the City of London, on Tuesday 11 July, in the presence of HRH Princess Katerina of Yugoslavia, the Lady Mayoress of London and many other distinguished guests.

Kate was nominated by several members of staff at the Wisdom Hospice for her exemplary service, she has been a volunteer there for twenty three years. She started by volunteering as a driver, before volunteering in the day hospice and most recently she has been leading the spiritual care team, which provides support and comfort to the patients.

Kate has become a role model for the other volunteers and has begun to mentor them in spiritual care.

Debra Gaskin, MCH volunteer services manager, said: "Kate is warm, intuitive, extremely caring and genuinely concerned for those in vulnerable circumstances. She is a highly valued volunteer at the Wisdom Hospice.”
