Lucy Porter, speech and language therapist, and Janine Pommer, physiotherapist, at Medway Community Healthcare (MCH) successfully nominated their patient Beth Miller, 12, from Murston, Kent for a Dreamflight holiday. Beth Miller with her Dreamflight invitation

Dreamflight is a registered charity that was founded in 1986, who take children with life-changing illnesses to Orlando, Florida. The charity sets out to inspire the youngsters into achieving goals despite disability or illness.

Beth is a young girl with complex health needs who has required ongoing physiotherapy and speech therapy from MCH for her whole life, as well as multiple operations.

She will join 191 other specially-selected children on the holiday to Orlando in October. They are accompanied by doctors, nurses and physiotherapists throughout the trip. This will be Beth’s second time on a plane and her first trip away without her family.

The youngsters, specially nominated by medical professionals, have a packed itinerary and will visit the Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Seaworld, NASA, Discovery Cove and Hollywood Studios during their ten day adventure.

All the children and their parents will meet up in September so the children can get to know each other before the holiday.

Kelly Miller, Beth’s mum, said: "She had no anxiety when we told her, she was just really excited. It really is a holiday of a lifetime.”

Beth said: "When I found out I thought ‘I can’t wait!’ I’m most looking forward to going to Universal Studios.

Lucy and Janine have organised a fundraising disco on Friday 27 October at the Orchards Centre, Sittingbourne in aid of Dreamflight as Beth is the third child from Swale who has been given this opportunity.
